Hi there
I’m back! As promised, I went to London Book Fair as a new author and had a fabulous time.
I had three objectives for my trip :
1) learn new stuff.
2) meet new people
3) have fun!
Mission accomplished I’d say. I picked up lots of top tips both from other writers and from the sessions that I attended. I starred in a promo video for the Self-Publishing Formula 101 course (but you’ll have to wait until the Autumn to see it) and I met some other Lake Union peeps which was great. They were all much further along on their publishing journeys than me so it was fascinating just to listen to them talk. Here they are in case you want to check them out. Jo Furniss Victoria Connelly Leah Mercer and Matt Dunn.
Here is a snap of the book fair in all its glory and one of me standing in front of the Amazon Publishing stand being smiley.
And then there was the party! It was at the Bluebird on the King’s Road in Chelsea. It was a cracking venue. The food was super and all the cocktails were named after Amazon Publishing books which was a nice touch.
So now I can’t wait to get my books out there. Postcards From a Stranger will have its worldwide release on 7th August and The Thing about Clare on 1st December. As soon as I have any more details, artwork etc I’ll let you know. I did spot myself in the London Show Daily magazine which was pretty cool. Here’s what it said.
“We have a fantastic list this year” said Laura Deacon, editorial director at Amazon Publishing UK. “…We also have two wonderful novels on our Lake Union list: The thing about Clare by Imogen Clark and The lines We Leave Behind by Eliza Graham…”.
You can imagine that I was bouncing up and down on the spot when I read that! I’m already looking forward to next year’s show.
This week I’m off on a location spotting trip for my new book and the sun is going to shine (or so the weather people have promised) so more of that next time.
Finally, I have to recommend the book that I’ve just read. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton is a must read if you like complicated mysteries with a gothic twist. I’m not going to say too much as I wouldn’t want to spoil it but click on the link and check it out. You can thank me later!
Happy reading,
